Amarok - Fuel Consumption_4m Highline - How Many K's Per Tank??

Having some concerns around the fuel consumption my Amarok is getting.
I only appear to be getting around 450-600k's per tank of diesel. Took it to CCS and they ran some tests and said it is on par with similar trucks they have on the yard.

Would be interested to see what the other Amarok 4m owners in here are getting consumption wise.
As it stands this vehicle is no more economical than my old Hilux, which is disappointing, as this was one of the main factors in me moving away from another Hilux.

The guys I purchased it from assured me it would get around 800 - 900 k's per 70 litres. Dealers I am questioning are saying 900 - 1000 k's per tank. Quite big discrepancies there.
Any feedback appreciated.

Hey Karl,

Yeah I've been doing lots of short city journeys and only got 600kms odd from last tank, pretty disappointing after the T4 and T5 which were always 800kms.

I guess auto and 4wd can be making a bit of difference, but 200kms diff seems a lot.

With a mix of town and open road getting over 700kms.

Mine is only 2500kms old, so probably really tight still.

Thanks Rob. Mine has done 12k. I am mainly around town, but with the odd longer trips out to the coast or down to the waikato.

They sell these things as being super frugal but in reality - It's no better than a 10 year old Hilux.
This is how I sold the extra cost to SWMBO  :o

Supposed to be around 8 - 9/100 but rarely seen those figures. Even with me nursing it along.

Why would you expect any modern to achieve the advertised figures?
This has been published before I think, and the tests and real life are two different things in emissions and fuel consumption.
Look at any road test then compare with the official figures.
At the end of the day, if you are dragging around a sizeable vehicle with 4 wheel drive you are gonna burn gas

 My wife's cx5 is supposed to be something like 5.8l/100kms but reality is more like 8-8.5

I did see a ford owner recently won a court case for the dollars he'd spent over the claimed figure over the ownership of the vehicle. Could be worthwhile threatening them!

We've got a 2013 T5 Transporter, BiTDi, 6 speed, 4motion, LWB, HIGH roof - looks like a camper!

We run it fairly empty a lot of the time, and it's driven all over Northland (lots of s**t roads too), and we're getting around 11l/100kms  I'd have thought an Amarok would be better, but a good chunk of town driving probably kills the economy. We drive it pretty quick, and do a lot of backroad driving too (front tyres only lasted about 18K  :o

An Amarok is probably quicker than a hilux, without realising you're accelerating harder, because it doesn't sound like a tractor (i do NOT miss our previous D4D Hiace - loud, wallowing, hungry, slow, obnoxious POS!)

(I asume the Amaroks all come with the twin turbo too... I thought they did at launch)

Thanks for the input. Yes the Amarok is much quieter than the Hilux D4D. More refined all round. Tows better and feels planted on the road. Do not miss the (dirty old) Hilux at all. Had hoped for some better economy though.

That is dissapointing, although only single turbo and non 4x4 my T5 gets 13km / L or 7.5L / 100km

Maybe just switch the software to test mode, should bring the L/100km down

My Uncles Amarok, 4-Motion Bi-Turbo unit, usualy around 700-800km's per tank around town.
